Eight months after his son was diagnosed with cancer, Michael Bublé has made his first public appearance, where he has spoken about the “emotional and difficult time”.
Michael was in Ottawa to accept a National Arts Center Award. In the speech with his voice breaking he spoke of how it had been a “difficult time”. He said, “I stand here truly humbled that I have been allowed to be one of your musical representatives and that you would choose to bestow this honour upon me during what has been an emotional and difficult time for my family. I thank you for the love and support that you’ve given and for the pride I’m filled with every single time I’m able to stand on a stage and say, ‘My name is Michael Steven Bublé and I’m Canadian.”
In November the father of two posted an update on Facebook that every parent would dread saying, ‘We are devastated about the recent cancer diagnosis of our oldest son Noah who is currently undergoing treatment in the US.’Michael was originally due to host this year’s BRIT Awards held at London’s O2 Arena, but pulled out due to his son’s health and was replaced by Dermot O’Leary and Emma Willis.
