Yes, I’m preparing for my holiday!…The beach, my sand chair, a book and a cocktail.
Happy Monday everyone!
What a nice weekend we had here at home. All the lawns are mowed and all the housework is done but most importantly. I was able to stay home and get the work I needed to get done. Because of a week from today. I am on HOLIDAY for 2 weeks. 🙂
My plans are to visit with DIY Debbie for a few days at the beach. Then head north to spend time with my mother and sister at yes, you got it, the beach :). I love sitting at the ocean and just listening to the waves with a good book in my hands. I plan on “trying” to get through 3 books while on my trip. “Into the Water” by Paula Hawkins, “Cancel the Wedding” by Carole T. Dingman and “16th Seduction” by James Patterson.
“Into the Water” by Paula Hawkins
A psychological suspense novel. About a single mother who turns up dead at the bottom of the river that runs through town. Earlier in the summer, a vulnerable teenage girl met the same fate. They are not the first women lost to these dark waters. But their deaths disturb the river and its history, dredging up secrets long submerged. Left behind is a lonely 15-year-old girl. Parentless and friendless, she now finds herself in the care of her mother’s sister. A fearful stranger who has been dragged back to the place she deliberately ran from. A place to which she vowed she’d never return.
“Cancel the Wedding” Carole T. Dingman
A debut novel for the writer. This does not mean that one should go into with preconceived ideas as the reviews surely are ranking this novel as a “VERY” good read. Not happy with her picture-perfect life, Olivia goes to Georgia to scatter her mother’s ashes and discovers the life she wants to be living. Olivia has a seemingly perfect life. She has a great, high-powered job and a wealthy hard-working fiancé, Leo. But she knows she’s not totally happy and can’t put her finger on why.
When Olivia’s mother, Jane, passes away from cancer. It is revealed that she wanted Olivia and sister Georgia to head to her hometown to scatter her ashes. She leaves fairly specific instructions for where she wants her ashes scattered. Olivia and Georgia are confused considering their mother never talked about her past or where she grew up. When Olivia’s fiancé tells her he booked their wedding venue and date. Olivia decides to go to Huntley, Georgia. To try to learn about her mother’s past before her sister meets her there for the scattering of ashes.
Now I must admit, I LOVE JAMES PATTERSON.
I love the short chapters and I love how I “feel” entirely involved in his books. “16th Seduction” reviews I have read make me feel like this will be no different. His co-writer is Maxine Paetro. Fifteen months ago, Detective Lindsay Boxer’s life was perfect — she had a beautiful child and a doting husband, Joe, who helped her catch a criminal who’d brazenly detonated a bomb in downtown San Francisco, killing 25 people. But Joe wasn’t everything that Lindsay thought he was, and she’s still reeling from his betrayal as a wave of mysterious, and possibly unnatural, heart attacks claims seemingly unrelated victims across San Francisco.
As if that weren’t enough, the bomber she and Joe captured is about to go on trial, and his defence raises damning questions about Lindsay and Joe’s investigation. Not knowing whom to trust, and struggling to accept the truth about the man she thought she knew, Lindsay must connect the dots of a deadly conspiracy before a brilliant criminal puts heron trial.
I truly am looking forward to these 3 reads this summer. They already have them saved on my tablet!!! I will post my reviews as I read them this summer. Have a great day everyone!!
