Prom zilla Part 2

Apparently wearing your mums’ prom dress is the latest big thing in America.

How does that work over here in UK? Proms have only been going for about 5 years or so. I’m sure my daughter isn’t going to be happy with my school leavers disco outfit I wore. Note, I left school in 1988. Think Bananarama meets REM mingled with The Cure. And add a dash of fingerless gloves and you can pretty much envisage my disco outfit. Unfortunately or not, we didn’t have selfie sticks and Instagram back then (thank god). I can sleep well safe in the knowledge my teenage years are all but a distant memory. I hope maybe police caution that is wiped after you are 18 I think.

Recently, a teen named Ally Johnson went viral after her mom talked her into wearing her old prom dress to her big senior dance.

But it turns out this is actually a turned into a big trend over there. Maybe it just happens that this year’s trend matches the trend that was doing the rounds back in their mums’ prom years. Or that social media love of “Throw Back” posts really have been taken literally.

About Baby Bel

I'm a single mum, waiting on my knight with shining armour but the best I can hope for is my 7 year old wrapped in tin foil. You can normally find me on my hands and knees (cleaning the kitchen floor). Getting wet in the bathroom (cleaning the kids honest). Dirty in the garden (digging weeds). Being creative in the kitchen (spaghetti hoops on toast ah viola!)
