Summertime Binge Series # 3 – Reign

Box Set Binge – Reign

So I started yet another binge this week while on vacation no less :).  My sister, who also recommended Wentworth, told me that she wanted to start a new binge. I decided we should watch “Reign”.  My sister watched “The Tudors” and she had been told this was a good one as well.  Personally,  I had never seen “The Tudors” but I am enjoying this series nonetheless.  In a nutshell, it is a show that stars the youngsters in royalty.  Mary, Queen of Scotland, is engaged at a very young age to Francis, Prince of France and now that they are no longer children, it is time to wed and join the 2 countries.  There, of course, is a lot of drama and mystery that happens in the background but you get the picture.  Here are some stats on the show:

Started in 2013 and is now in its 4th season(just wrapped up June 16)

  • Adelaide Kaine – Mary, Queen of Scots
  • Toby Regbo – Francis II of France
  • Megan Follows – Catherine de Medici
  • Torrance Coombs – Sebastian “Bash”
  • Created by: Stephanie Sengupta and Laurie McCarthy
  • Produced by CBS Studios
  • Airs on CW

  1. So I finished all 4 seasons and honestly, I really am glad I watched it. The series is based upon the adult life of Mary, Queen of Scots. I learned a lot about history and the show even sparked good conversation between my husband and I(he is a true world history buff). I must say that I loved the costumes. They were period correct however, they were modernized and it really was great to see all the different costumes and what the artist could do to modernize them. I am not sure but it felt like the final episode had been edited to rush the storyline and likely because they had been told that they were cancelling and Season 5 would not happen. After I finished watching, of course, I had to go and do all the research I could on Mary, Queen of Scots and her life. I am now going to watch “The Tudors” as it has come highly recommended.
