The Queen is just like you and me!

There’s a lot to love about the Queen

And one of them is that she’s just like us, despite living in Buckingham Palace and driving about in fancy cars and giving people Knighthoods. The Queen loves a bargain! Who knew that all these years she’s been wearing high street nail polish!

And the same colour too. That is some commitment.

Well, the Queen does have her own style and has done for 90 years now. The block colour twin set, the white gloves, the crown… her sartorial style is on fleek. It’s a very iconic look. She’s the most glamorous great-grandmother I can think of.

But she is a bit stuck in her ways. We’ve never seen the Queen wear… jeans for example, but I don’t think that’s going to happen anytime soon.

And it turns out that her signature style includes only one type of nail polish – Essie’s Ballet Slippers which you can pick up in Boots for less than a tenner. It’s the only nail polish Elizabeth II, the longest reigning monarch alive, will wear and it only costs £7.99.

According to Essie’s website, in 1989, the Queen’s hairdresser approached the nail polish brand and asked for some Ballet Slippers as it’s the only polish she would wear. So the Queen has been wearing the nail polish for at least 28 years. Maybe more!

And it’s a growing trend within the Royal family – but that’s not surprising. Ballet Slippers is a big hit with manicurists, it’s neutral and classy. I bet that’s why Kate Middleton picked it for her wedding day. It’s a perfect look for a Royal bride!

About Baby Bel

I'm a single mum, waiting on my knight with shining armour but the best I can hope for is my 7 year old wrapped in tin foil. You can normally find me on my hands and knees (cleaning the kitchen floor). Getting wet in the bathroom (cleaning the kids honest). Dirty in the garden (digging weeds). Being creative in the kitchen (spaghetti hoops on toast ah viola!)
